Dear Walter:

I truly regret your loss of your father, and offer these comments.

I always felt ambivalent about debating your father. I respect creative genius above all else, and he was the brightest creative light I ever met.

However, I had little choice in the matter. For over a decade, I have been trying to alert the public to the dangers of greenhouse conditions, and believed that the K–T was an example of what can happen to life during a carbon cycle perturbation.

With my condolence, I am

Sincerely yours,

Dewey M. McLean
Professor of Geology
