PUBLIC PERCEPTION ISSUES IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

Charles Hagedorn and Susan Allender-Hagedorn

PUBLIC PERCEPTIONS IN AGRICULTURAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOTECHNOLOGY: A STUDY OF PUBLIC CONCERNS

Before important issues can be addressed, they must first be identified. Our initial project was entitled Public Perceptions in Agricultural and Environmental Biotechnology: A Study of Public Concerns (completed 12/95), and supported by USDA's NATIONAL BIOLOGICAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (NBIAP). The following links contain access to the shortened version of the documentation from our study. The complete results have now been published in the journal "PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENCE", VOLUME 6, 1997, PAGES 233-245. Also available is our Virginia Cooperative Extension Bulletin that compared and contrasted biotechnology issues from opinion surveys and the popular press.
