In 1998, 32% of the U.S. acreage in soybeans (72 million acres total) was planted in transgenics. The "Roundup-Ready" lines were the most popular and sales were limited only by availability of seeds of the transgenic lines. The transgenic acreage should continue to increase in 1999.
