Developing a Virginia Irrigation Website

Thank you for taking time to visit this website and show your support for
turfgrass irrigation water conservation

The goals of the website portion of this research are:
  • To create a collaborative process to determine information that should be included in a website containing climate and evapotranspiration (ET) data to be used for landscape irrigation scheduling
    • To collaboratively create a website containing ET information through focus groups and online surveys
    • To assess if the created website is useful and user friendly

Thank you to everyone who assisted with the survey. Your input helped shape the final product.

    Evapotranspiration Information:
    What is Evapotranspiration? From weather.com:
EVAPOTRANSPIRATION: The total amount of water that is transferred from the earth's surface to the atmosphere. It is made up of the evaporation of liquid or solid water plus the transpiration from plants. For more information.
How to schedule irrigation based on Evapotranspiration Replace (through irrigation) only the amount of water lost via evapotranspiration (measured in inches/acre).

This number is adjusted by 60% for warm season turf and 80% for cool season turf, per the Irrigation Association's guidelines.
