Another Pauslen classic. A must read.

My Life in Dog Years by Gary Paulsen

Not entirely about sled dogs, but another Paulsen must read.

Running North: A Yukon Adventure by Ann Mariah Cook

A well written and interesting tale of a family training and competing in the Yukon Quest. A good read.

 

My Lead Dog Was a Lesbian: Mushing Across Alaska in the Iditarod-The World's Most Grueling Race by Brian Patrick O'Donoghue

Great book and a fun read. Great Story about Brian's Iditarod adventure. Read it!

Honest Dogs: A Story of Triumph and Regret from the World's Greatest Sled Dog Race by Brian Patrick O'Donoghue

Brian's attempt at the Yukon Quest. A fun story. Read it!

Tracks Across Alaska: A Dog Sled Journey by Alastair Scott

An intersting tale of travel in Alaska by dog team

Skijor With Your Dog

Good introduction to Skijoring with dogs. Skijoring is fun, but NO BREAKS!

The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic by Gay Salisbury, Laney Salisbury

A documentry of the Diptherea Epicdemic in Alaska. Interesting but somewhat dry.

Iditarod Dreams: A Year in the Life of Alaskan Sled Dog Racer Deedee Jonrowe by Lew Freedman, Deedee Jonrowe

A well written book about Deedee's trainig for the Iditarod.

Race Across Alaska: First Woman to Win the Iditarod Tells Her Story by Libby Riddles, Tim Jones

The story of the first woman to win the Iditarod.

Spirit of the Wind: The Story of George Attla, Alaska's Legendary Sled Dog Sprint Champ by Lew Freedman

I missplaced it before I finshed!

Mush: A Beginner's Manual of Sled Dog Training by Bella Levorsen, Sierra Nevada Dog Drivers Inc.

A must have reference for the beginning musher.

The Speed Mushing Manual: How to Train Racing Sled Dogs by Jim Welch

An interesting approach to training for sprint races
