Madagascar GIS Layers Ranomafana National Park & Ialatsara Lemur Forest Camp & Mahatsinjo-Tsinjoarivo

The following GIS layers are intended to aid researchers working in Madagascar’s eastern rainforests.
Considerations: 1. GPS’d data have an accuracy of 8m or less. 2. GPS Mapping at Ranomafana NP and Ialatsara was a joint effort among Brian Gerber (Virginia Tech), Belita Marine (Virginia Tech), Johny Randrianantenaina (Centrel Valbio), and Dina Andrianoely (Centrel Valbio). 3. GPS Mapping at Mahatsinjo-Tsinjoarivo was a joint effort among Edmond Razanadrakoto (SADABE), Jean-Luc Raharison (SADABE), Brian Gerber (Virginia Tech), Johny Randrianantenaina (Centrel Valbio), and Feno Hery Andriamiharisoa (University of Antananarivo). 4. Subsequent data is free for public use, however the use in publication should use proper acknowledgment.
**Shapefiles are projected in WGS1984– 38S** (unless otherwise noted) RANOMAFANA NATIONAL PARK Ranomafana National Park Boundary— RNP Boundary.zip, RNP-BoundaryAdjusted.zip (adjusted version has been shifted based on ground-truthing. There is no guarantee this is accurate, but it is likely more accurate than the non-adjusted shapefile) Ranomafana Park Boundary by Parcel—RNP-3Polygons.zip Centrel Valbio Research Station and Remote Field Camps within RNP– CVB and Camps.zip (Valohoaka, Sakaroa, Vatoharanana, Sakaroa) Villages Surrounding Ranomafana NP (Geographic Coordinate System– WGS1984)—Villages.zip Tourist & Research Trails within RNP (GPS’d) - (Talatakely.zip, Valohoaka & Vatohranana.zip, Vohiparara.zip) Namorana River (near CVB and the RNP) - NamoranaAdjusted.zip (created by DEM extrapolation. Other online Namorana River shape files are often poorly aligned)
