The Norfolk & Western has had a variety of paint schemes over the years.
N & W 300 in Pevlar Blue, stashed in the dead line in Roanoke.
N & W 795 in Bluefield yard in one of the early diesel/late steam paint schemes (although this picture was taken in 1980).
N & W 1793 at Matoaka, West Virginia in late 1980, as part of a power move between Bluefield and Elmore. The engine is in Pevlar Blue paint with the "Gold Dot" logo (a faded "hamburger" logo minus the blue N & W).
N & W 1793 climbs the connecting track between the N & W Bluestone Branch and the Virginian main line at Matoaka.
N & W 1793 and the rest of the units drift downgrade from Clarks Gap on the Virginian headed toward Elmore/Mullins.
N & W 173 in the Roanoke dead line in 1980. This last surviving Virginian Fairbanks Morse Trainmaster didn't last much longer after this--the unit was chopped down to create a yard slug.
