Statement on student accommodation:
Students who have a disability or other condition that requires accommodation should discuss the issue with Prof. Hausman early in the semester. Students need not disclose their condition with the professor, merely provide her with documentation from the Dean of Students Office concerning the necessary accommodation. Students may make an appointment or come to Prof. Hausman's office hours (posted on contact info page). All conversations between individual students and the professor will remain confidential.
Attendance:
Students in lecture courses where attendance is not taken may skip classes at their peril. Reading quizzes are based solely on readings, but exams will be based on information in lectures, on which students must take notes. Quizzes cannot be made up, which is why students are allowed to drop two quizzes from their cummulative quiz grade. The two lowest scores, or missed scores, will not be counted.
Students in discussion classes where attendance is taken may miss up to one week's worth of classes during the semester with no grade penalty. However, more than two missed classes (in a T/Th or MW course) or three missed classes (in a MWF course) will result in diminishment of the student's final grade. You do not have to contact Professor Hausman about missing class if you are within your allotment of free cuts. However, if you find yourself unable to attend class routinely, please make an appointment to discuss the matter with the professor during her office hours.
