THE TOAD HOUSE

This section of my site is devoted to the always awesome TOAD

There are many who do not know who this character is. Many of you are probably thinking I am insane right about now. Well, both of these are easily justified, but to remain on the topic of the page, I will focus on the first statement.
Toad is from various Nintendo games, mainly from the Super Mario series. He has appeared in just about all of them, helping out the heroes in whatever way he can. In Japan the little guy's name is Kinopio. To clarify, in the Mushroom Kingdom, the race of mushroom people are called Toads, but there is only one named Toad, and this is usually the one who appears in the games.
I hope to update this section more later on, as more Toad information presents itself, and so I can fix all the stuff that I may have left out.
Video Game Appearances
Toad's role in the games are as follows (I'm going by memory right now, I'll fill in the blanks later. If I miss something, please let me know)
Super Mario Bros - Mario and Luigi meet "mushroom retainers" at the end of Castles 1-7 who tell them that the Princess isn't there
Super Mario Bros 2 - PLAYABLE - Toad was actually a selectable character in this game! He had the worst jump, but was the fastest runner and could pick up objects the fastest out of the four characters.
Super Mario Bros 3 - Various "Toad Houses" where scattered about the world maps where Mario and Luigi could pick up an item.
Super Mario Kart - PLAYABLE - Toad was a selectable racer in this go-kart racing game. Toad is noted as a good racer for beginners because his kart has the best handling. He is on par with Koopa Troopa.
Wario's Woods - PLAYABLE - A puzzle game featuring Toad. You control the little guy as you run around the puzzle area moving bombs and enemies around trying to clear the area of monsters.
Super Mario RPG - The Mushroom Kingdom was an area Mario could visit that was populated by Toad and other mushroom families.
Super Mario All-Stars - PLAYABLE - Toad's roles are the same in these remakes as they were in the original versions.
Super Mario 64 - Toad was found in various parts of the castle giving Mario hints and occasionally bonus Power Stars.
Super Mario Kart 64 - PLAYABLE - Once more, Toad is available in Nintendo kart racing. This time, his acceleration and top speed were his best points, but his low weight meant more spinouts. Also, Toad Highway was a race track in the Flower Cup.
Mario Party - Toad proposed the idea of a competition between the characters and then set up shop on random spots on the game board giving a star to whoever could pay him 20 coins. In the last level of the one-player mode, you race against him in Slot Car Derby, but alas, you cannot select him.
Mario Party 2 - Toad once again retained his role as star vendor. This time around he had sweet costumes along with the characters for each game board.
Mario Party 3 - In the most recent version of the board game, Toad did not sell you stars anymore, instead, he was a partner character you could pick up in the Battle Mode, as well as Peach's starting buddy.
Mario Tennis - PLAYABLE - Finally, our mushroom hero is back in the action. Toad hit the courts showcasing speed and accuracy.
Paper Mario - One of the first areas Mario visits is Toad Town, an expansive town near Princess Peach's castle that is chock full of Toads.
Luigi's Mansion - I don't know much about this not even released Gamecube title, but I think Toad's there to save your game.
Super Smash Bros. Melee - It is unknown as of none if Toad is playable (though he better be) but Toad is part of one of Peach's B-button attacks where he deals out double damage if he grabs a physical attack.
Super Mario Bros DX - In the Game Boy Color remake of Super Mario Bros, mushroom retainers still wait for Mario and Luigi at the end of the first seven castles, and after being rescued go to the "Toad Room" in the extra section where extra items such as banners can be printed.
Super Mario Advance - PLAYABLE - In the GBA remake of Super Mario Bros 2, Toad is back with the same abilities and now a voice, like the other characters.
This is quite a list, however, it perturbs me that Toad is not selectable in more games. He is in practically every Mario game, yet is not represented fairly at all. He was left out of Super Smash Bros, so I am hoping that he is selectable in Melee, which he better be, since there are so many characters and secret characters in this one. If he is nowhere to be found, I am strongly considering writing Nintendo an angry letter. If such happens, email me with your support and we'll make a petition or something, so Nintendo can laugh at us all together.

Here are some pictures of my mushroom buddy taken from various sites on the web.

Toad Links
Here I shall list links to other Toad fan-sites. This section is disgustingly small, because there aren't many at there at all. I have only found one. Come on, let's give our mushroom hero some support!
Toad Kinopio's Home - The only other Toad site I have found, this has a lot of great information and pictures (most of which I shamelessly borrowed...) so check it out.
