Here, I will have some commentary about news in the metal world (mainly from MetalSucks and Blabbermouth). I may even just re-post some of their stories (let's be honest, MetalSucks's commentary sometimes is just too good.)

4/23/08: Testament is the Most Green Thrash Band Around

So, I was reading Blabbermouth and found out that Testament is giving a portion of their pre-order sales for their new album "The Formation of Damnation" to Greenpeace. That's pretty cool if ya ask me. Now, I'm not entirely sure about Global Warming (however, I'm starting to lean towards the reality it might happen) and hippies kinda bother me. But what's cool about this is Testament showing their beliefs and clearly sticking to them. Thrash being rich in political content, it's great to see a trash band sticking to the ethos of the genre. Testament has written songs about the environment (e.g.,"Greenhouse Effect") and it's great to see them still sticking to what they believe in. Basically, NOT SELLING OUT. Kudos to Testament. P.s.-Testament's MySpace is streaming "The Formation of Damnation" in its entirety. Check that out.

4/20/08: Deicide's Glenn Benton Sees Bigfoot

I really wish I made this up, but I ventured over to MetalKult and stumbled upon this story about Deicide's Glenn Benton seeing Bigfoot in a Florida forest. It'd be so much easier to follow the link and read it as it isn't a long article. Follow the jump.

4/16/08: What the Hell Is Going On With Through the Eyes of The Dead?

What the hell is going on with Through the Eyes of the Dead? So last I've heard they lost another guitarist (Richard Turbeville) and replaced another (third) singer. Apparently, TtEotD have added dates for a tour. Through my research, I've found absolutely nothing—Myspace not really updated, official website definetly not updated, and Wikipedia not updated.

They may or may not have found a new guitarist to replace Turbeville and I think they replaced their drummer. To be completely honest, I have no clue what's going on with that band. All I know is that when they come around, I'm definitely seeing them (hopefully, TtEotD will have members to actually tour). I'd post a picture of the band, but by the time this is posted, new band members will probably join and leave the band. P.S. definitely check them out if you've been living under a rock and never heard of them. Myspace page.

4/14/08: Children of Bodom's Blooddrunk Streaming on AOL

As promised here's Blooddrunk. As I listen to the album, one thing is evident: if ya have heard one Children of Bodom album, you've pretty much come to know what to expect with an album. This stays true with Blooddrunk. Not that it's bad to hear guitarist Alexi Laiho shred like a maniac. With that being said, it seems as though CoB has gotten angrier—which is great. Is it breaking any new ground?; no. Is it still awesome?; hell yea. LIsten to its melo-death, thrashy goodness. Got this news originally from Metal Underground.

4/13/08: NON-METAL RELATED: Ortiz May Take Mental Health Day Off

Now, I know that this is a metal blog, but I couldn’t resist what I just saw on ESPN. I love baseball—I’m a die-hard Yankees fan (been one since the days of Mattingly, Keys, Boggs, and etc.). Apparently, the Red Sux...er, the Red Sox, may give struggling power hitter David Ortiz the night off. He needs a “mental night off” because he is in a major slump possibly due to the Red Sox’s travels into Japan. Why am I talking about this? Well, if memory serves me correctly, didn’t Theo Epstein (Red Sox GM) say something about how Mike Mussina (MOOOOOOSSSSSSEEEEEE) used a similar trip that the Yankees made a few years back as a “crutch” or an excuse for the Yankees (who, as Mussina pointed out, won the division that year)? I’ll jog your memory; Epstein did say that. Now, who seems like the biggest idiot? I’ll give you a hint...

But to keep this metal related here’s Enter Sandman from Metallica (it’s the song Mariano Rivera comes out to—ah the correlation of metal and the Yankees).
