Colorado Trip Report
Boofing Big Wood Falls on Daisy
Colorado at last! The trip was short but sweet. The Autoboof Productions Crew stayed in Fort Collins for 2 nights while paddling sections of the Poudre at high water, then heading to Clear Creek the next day for some more class 5 boogie and a couple of defined drops scattered throughout the run.
Next up, Crested Butte for a day of Daisy, Slate, and then OBJ twice. Because our vehicle couldn’t cross any of the creeks we ended up hiking a total of about 4 miles that day, it was pretty exsausting to say the least. Lastly, the next day we hit up OBJ for 2 runs, hiking again as well! No carnage to speak of until the last day, when a fellow kayaker went a bit too far right and broke his ankle on Deadzone (the big one). He went to the hospital, and all was well for another amazing time in Colorado. Too bad the ride home wasn’t as pleasant, due to a breakdown in Tennessee. That brings the grand total of 2 Colorado trips, and 3 breakdowns- not a bad ratio, right?
