This site is dedicated to a genus of bacteria known as Photobacterium. As seen in the menu at left, there is information about the general characteristics of Photobacterium, information about difference species, the importance of photobacterium to humans and animals, a photogallery, and links to other microbe-related sites. Also, please take the time to visit "About Site" as this page tells why this site exists.
AN EDUCATIONAL NOTE: The flagellar motion depicted by the curser bacteria (viewable only with Netscape 4.x) is actually that of eukarotes (eukaryotes are organisms like you and me and amoebas - anything that has internal cellular compartments). Bacteria actually have helix-shaped flagella which they use to 'cork-screw' through their environment.
