Restoration Log for the month of May, 1998 Date: May 5, 1998
Workers: Chris Shelton

Work Completed:
-Checked out the car to see about removing the remaining peices
-talked to origional owners (grandparents) about restoring the car

Notes:
-The Tires were still holding air!
-I need to talk to gary about his mechanics and their visit to see the car.
-I will need to find someone to rebuild the floorboards

Time -9:00 - 9:30 (30 Minutes)

Work Completed:
-Lubed all the joints/bolts on the car so peices could be removed.
-Removed inner tail light sections. There are 2 screws holding this in place. To remove, pull on brake lens posts, screws go in the top and bottom of peice.
-Removed outer tail light sections. 3 screws remove the body of the tail lights.
-Lubed all doors, got them open. Inside handles all work. The only working outside handle is the front passenger door.
-Removed rear bumper. (4 bolts, all have angled heads)
-Removed front bumper. (2 bolt heads angled, 4 bolt heads round)
-Removed hood mounting plate/grill support.(8 1/2 inch sheet metal screws. This peice holds the grill and hood mount. Removed some wiring and ceramic terminal strip.
-Removed horns (2 bolts for each horn. Spacers go on both sides of horn. Lock washers hold caps to inner fender.
-Removed rear license plate holder. 3 screws mount this directly to the trunk.
-Removed drivers side upper bumper chrome. Strippecd out 3rd screw.
-Removed both wrap around chrome grill peices. --a 12/2 inch bolt attaches peice to bumper mount, and 3 bolts attach to peice to the front fenders.
-Removed grill. Grill peices mount under front plate and mount to the bottom sheet metal pans. the ends fit behind the wraparound grill chrome.
-Removed bottom bumper plate (Piece in between bumper and radiator. This plate sits over the side plates and under the front bumper skirt. (8 bolts)
-Removed corner plate on passenger side rear window. Also removed top passenger side rear window trim.

Notes:
-Most of the bolts are breaking off due to rust and age.
-The front bumper mount was removed with the bumper due to the metal being rusted out.
-Other than that, there are a few places on the car that need a lot of work. The major rusted spots are, rear trunk next to window, rust near front doors, driver's side rocker panels are weak but not rusted through.

-Cleaned up the rear bumper.
-Cleaned up the front bumper.
-Disassembled grill (See diagram)

-Cleaned, Straightened, and reassembled front grill.
(Suport peices which attached to the upper grill mount are not on the grill yet.
