Sponsor: Air Force Research Lab / USRA
Duration: 8/11/00 - 8/10-01
Page Last Updated: 12/31/00
Objectives:
- Characterize the performance of ionic polymer materials.
- Develop a suitable power amplification strategy for powering ionic polymer material actuators.
- Perform analysis and testing to develop a mechanism based on this actuator material.
Results:
- Obtained ionic polymer samples from Dr. Shahinpoor at University of New Mexico.
- Characterized the electromechanical impedance of ionic polymer samples.
- Characterized the step response of ionic polymer samples.
- Characterized the force-to-displacement relationships.
