Biography

I was born in Ravenna, OH, but spent most of my life in Charlotte, NC, where I
graduated from high school in 1997. Then I attended Virginia Tech, receiving
my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2001. Currently, I am a Masters student
working in the Center for Intelligent Material Systems and Structures in the
area of controlling ionic polymer-metal composite actuators. I worked for
three summers as a mechanical contractor installing and maintaining equipment
at Continental Tire in Charlotte. In the Fall semester of 1999, I studied
abroad at Luleå Tekniska Universitet in Sweden. During the summer of 2001, I
worked as an intern for Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Sensors and Systems
Sector in Baltimore, MD, on the Comanche program. Some of my hobbies include
snowboarding, soccer, and travel.
