External Links and References

Here are some of the links which I found most helpful.

http://www.nanozine.com/     This site is based on the online Nanotechnology Magazine and has lots of pics, links, articles and anything else you might need.  Definitely the place to start any research off.

http://www.imm.org/       This is the website of K. Eric Drexler and associates.  It has diagrams of their pioneering work in designing molecular machinery.

http://www.nas.nasa.gov/Groups/Nanotechnology/publications/1997/applications/     An amazing collection of ideas created by the think-tank at NASA.  Another good place to check for what might be next.

http://www.nano.gov/

http://www.nanoventures.ws/     Yearly conference on commercializing nanotechnology.

http://www.nanoindustries.com/

http://www.chem.northwestern.edu/NanoWeb/intro.html        This is the site for Northwestern's nanotechnology research but there's work being done all across the country.

http://pchem1.rice.edu/nanoinit.html       Rice's Nanotechnology Page

It's amazing how many web sites exist solely on the topic of nanotechnology.

Also check out these cool books that you can find in the library:

Drexler, K. Eric; Peterson; Pergamit.  Unbounding the Future.  New York: William Morrow and Company, Inc.  1991.  (Drexler's Third book, not available at VT.)

Nelson, Max and Calvin Shipbaugh.  The Potential of Nanotechnology for Molecular Manufacturing.  Santa Monica: RAND.  1995.   T174.7 N45 1995

Regis, Ed.  Nano.  New York: Little, Brown, and Company.  1995.  T 174.7 R44 1995

For those interested, this "Intro to Nanotechnology" site was created by Jeremy Hannon for the ENGL 3764 Technical Writing Class at Virginia Tech, Fall 2001.  Last Revised December 14, 2001.
