This is a unit plan I prepared for 10th grade Biology.  This unit plan focuses on the characteristics and diversity of vertebrates.   One lesson allows the students to research a vertebrate animal of their choice then compile their information in the form of a CD cover.

Also, the students work to elaborate on information gained during note taking session.  In groups students write a song or poem that defines major points from their vertebrate notes.

The students also complete an on-line dissection of a frog.  The students get a great look at the various parts of a frog and can find information regarding the function of those parts.
