Plat Map - Southern Ritchie County, West Virginia

This plat map roughly corresponds to southwestern Ritchie and northern Wirt County, West Virginia. The date of the map is unknown, but it appears to show property boundaries as they existed in the early twentieth century. The map is believed to show mineral rights, rather than surface rights, though the two at that time would have more closely coincided than they do today. The dots scattered throughout the map area are believed to represent wells. I could not scan the map as one image so have divided it into 10 sections. The sections have been purposefully overlapped for continuity's sake. Some sections overlap more than others.

In addition to the property boundaries, the map also shows other features, such as roadways, waterways, community names and the path of the Cairo & Kanawha Valley Railroad.

For a point of reference, the upper left map (Section 1) contains the community of California, while the community of Mellin is located in the map at the lower right (Section 10). In addition, holding the cursor over a section will reveal the named communities within that section.

I'm working on a version that I hope is more user-friendly and have added a list of names found on the map.
