Carrie White (Spacek) is a shy young girl, outwardly your average High School wallflower. Growing up with her religious-fanatic mother she is understandably sheltered and naive. She unexpectedly has her first period in the showers at school and reacts with utter horror. After this incident her schoolmates taunt her relentlessly. Finally, as prom-time comes around, her fellow students hatch a cruel prank they play on her during the prom. What they didn't know was Carrie is gifted...in a very special way.
This is the first Stephen King novel to be made into a movie, and like the book, it packs a powerful punch. It's an instant classic, especially for King-fans. John Travolta does a great job as the stupid, cruel High School hunk that plays with Carries heart. Worth seeing, even if you don't like King (haven't you always wanted to get back at the "in-crowd?").
