It is interesting to observe the evolution of Lon Chaney Jr's movie career.  He started of taking small, insignificant roles that he was probably given because of who his father was.  Once show-biz discovered his talent he finally got the good parts.  Unfortunately he did not retire at his peak but continued to make movies well past his prime.  This might explain some of the bad films he made later.
