INTASC 10 - Communicating with Colleagues

Below is an email correspondence between Lisa Hill, my cooperating teacher, and myself.  We are discussing how best to proceed in her absence.

Kasey,
I trust you to go where every you want.  I have to send plans.  It doesn't really mean anything.  The fact that you have may ground work with Lazet is HUGE!  She is a tough one.  Congratulations.  She and I still haven't gotten there.  You have no idea how crappy I feel for leaving you.  I may come by tomorrow afternoon if I can so we can talk.  I feel like I've neglected you! I am so sorry!  If all goes well I may see you tomorrow.  If not, definitely Friday!

Subject: Re: Lesson Plans for Thursday

Ms. Hill, I didn't start poetry today because I didn't have your approval on my plans.  I also didn't know you had any drawn up plans for tomorrow, I thought they would be more of the stuff from the folder . . . so I accidently made some other plans for the periods.  Here's what I was thinking and have sort of already talked to the kids about . . . . . 1st, 4th, and 8th were going to whole class discuss the book, ask questions, summarize and "vent" since I didn't start poetry.  6th period was promised a quiz based on their performance today and a reading day since half of them are not where they are supposed to be in the novel.  I said nothing to 2nd period about what they would be doing today. Would it be okay to continue with what I mentioned or would you like me to start poetry?  Whatever you want is absolutely fine. The days have been going well.  The 10th graders seem to be warming up to me a bit and have a bit less . . . not sure what the word is . . .towards me.  After yesterday, Lazet and I had a sit down conversation in the library during 7th and it seems like things may take a positive path with the two of us as well. Let me know what it is you would like me to do.  I will not be near my email until later tonight so the best way to reach me is by cell 540-998-4097.

Hope you're doing better!

Kasey

p.s. we all miss you!
