Quotes from Bobby after the 125s:
BOBBY LABONTE: That was the best
medicine I could have had. I haven't
been feeling too good today. I was
just riding a little bit too much,
compared to Bill (Elliott). Congratulations
to him. We just need to get a little
better handle on it a little more speed."
(PRETTY TAME RACE) "It kind
of was in a way. It was just more
like July 4th. That means July 4th isn't
going to be very good when it comes to
slipping and sliding. All-in-all,
we've got to work on our handling package
and make it better." (FORDS
LOOK TOUGH) "Yes. You know
the 24 car finished in front of me and I guess he
was the first Chevrolet in the field.
His car was pushing pretty bad
there at the end, too. So, I think
we've all got our work cut out for us."
(CAN YOU PASS OUT THERE) "You could
suck up on somebody, but when you got
down in the corner, you better beware
because you were sliding all over the
place. It's just one of those deals
right now. It's not bad in one way,
but in some ways it's just different.
We've got to work on it."

Butch Bellah's (The Frontstretch) pick
for 2000 champ:
#1 Bobby Labonte: Now you know.
My pick for 2000 Winston Cup Champion is
Bobby Labonte. After showing light
years of improvement over the past
several seasons, I predict Bobby breaks
through and captures the title
for his Joe Gibbs Racing team.
Bobby finished the 1999 season behind only
Dale Jarrett, who as I have
stated was having unbelievable luck.
With DJ unable to repeat that performance,
the door is wide open for the Corpus Christi
native to join his older brother
as Winston Cup Champion.
Joe Gibbs has built a perfect two-car team
and Labonte and Tony Stewart
may spend all year trading the lead back
and forth. But, when it's all said
and done, when the checkered flag falls
at Atlanta in November, the green
Interstate Battery Pontiac will have won
the title. Again, my prediction
for 2000 Winston Cup Champion is Bobby
Labonte.

I went to the Winston Cup Preview in Winston-Salem
today. Last night, I stood in line for 3 hours in 20-degree weather
to get Bobby's wristband. He didn't show up today, though, since
he had the flu. Bummer. Now I'll be waiting for my signature
card to come in the mail. I got autographs and pictures with Steve
Park and Mike Skinner (Skinner was the only driver available at the 11:15
time slot, after I found out Bobby wouldn't be there). Here are some
pictures from the preview from the Racing Angels page: http://www.racingangels.org/preview/previewpics.html
