Biography Lisa M. McGuire is a full-time doctoral student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program at Virginia Tech. Prior to coming to Blacksburg, Ms. McGuire served as Program Advisor in the Office of Student Development Programs at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana. While at USI, she created the O'Daniel Leadership Academy and advised the student programming board. Ms. McGuire has been active in the Association of College Personnel Administrators, serving on the directorate for Commission IV: Students, Their Activities and Their Communities. She was also a co-chair for the 2000 National Leadership Symposium hosted by the University of Richmond. Her community involvement has included serving as a facilitator for the Evansville Youth Leadership Program and the newsletter editor for Junior League of Buffalo. She received her Bachelor of Science in Advertising from Kent State University (1991) and earned her Master of Science degree in Student Personnel Administration (1996) from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. Lisa was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She is an avid reader. Among her favorite authors are Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Tom Clancy, and Kenneth Blanchard.
