Students do not learn from teachers they do not respect

Whether it be how a teacher acts professionally or displays of incompetence, students are not likely to take seriously teachers they do not respect. I believe this is the foundation for a teacher’s rapport with students and both sides need to cultivate it. A teacher must respect students consistently, but cannot always expect to be respected without first earning it. A teacher must build a working relationship with the students and show that he or she is capable of discussing and teaching his or her curriculum.
