10, 2003 -- During the 2002 SME Annual Meeting in February at
Phoenix, Arizona, the membership of the Society Mining, Metallurgy, and
Exploration (SME) elected Tony Henderson of Bluefield, West Virginia to
their Board of Directors. Mr. Henderson will serve a three-year term as
Vice President of the Southeast Region. Mr. Henderson currently serves
the SME nationally as Chairman of the Southeast Region and is on the Membership
Committee and the Professional Registration Committee. Locally, Mr. Henderson
is on the Executive Board of the Central Appalachian Section of SME, which
encompasses membership in Eastern Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Mr. Henderson is a Professional Mining Engineer and is the Principal of
Henderson Associates, a mining consulting firm. Mr. Henderson is also
currently completing the requirements for a PhD degree in Mining and Minerals
Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
