History

The Central Appalachian Section (SME/CAS) of the Society for Mining, Exploration and Metallurgy, Inc. (SME) was established on October 17, 1940.  The society was established to promote mutual cooperation in furthering the objects of the Society by providing regular meetings for the free discussion of subjects of interest to members.
