I grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut, although I moved around a bit when I was younger. I have an older brother, Nick, who is two years my elder. My parents, Joe and Patti, both work in the leasing industry; my dad for Equilease Corp. and my mom for Terex.
I am currently a student at Virginia Tech, and will be graduating in December of 2008 with a degree in Professional Writing. More importantly, how did I get to where I am now? To understand that I'll have to take you back a little bit to when I was in high school.
My older brother, Nick, graduated in 2002 and chose to come to Virginia Tech. While I was still in high school I went to visit him for a couple days and absolutely fell in love with the school, and the football team's 31-7 victory over then second ranked Miami didn't hurt. After that trip I knew where I would be attending college.
After about a year or so of not knowing what I wanted to do I thought about what my passion is. I realized that the one thing I know, and surround myself with was always sports. Whether it was watching them, reading about them, or playing them I always had a passion for them. At that point, since I realized that I could no longer play them, the next best thing I could put my mind to was to write about them.
Over the last couple years I have been working towards a degree that will enable me to follow my passion. Along with working a job at a sandwich shop for the last few years to help pay for rent and other expenses. Recently, I've started writing for the sports section of Tech's student-run newspaper, The Collegiate Times, in order to build my portfolio.
