About Me

I am a Master of Science student at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Virginia Tech . My advisor is Dr. Patrick Schaumont . In June 2005, I received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of California , San Diego. I started my MS study right afterward here at Virginia Tech and I expect to graduate in May 2007.

During my undergraduate studies, I have taken many courses from various fields in ECE such as digital signal processing, communications, computer engineering, computer networking. The main reason is to experience what each field is concerned with, and to find out what I really enjoy doing. With focus on computer engineering and digital signal processing, I have completed coursework in advanced digital design, VLSI design, computer architecture, and complete course sequence in digital signal processing. In addtion to these, I have also complete networking sequence with classes in computer networking and queueing theory.

Research

I started my study under Dr. Patrick Schaumont , working on HW/SW Co-design for embedded systems.

I have worked closely with Xilinx Spartan3 FPGA in my research and my current projects includes: 1. Development of parallel-software transformation of hardware modules using multi-Picoblaze network. 2. Development of design automation suite integrating GEZEL for the design involving Picoblaze microprocessor.

I am currently working on the implementation of secure circuits on FPGA, with emphasis on security against power-side-channel attacks.
