Thanks for visiting my website. I am currently a PhD student in Fisheries and Wildlife at Virginia Tech. I enjoy fly fishing, fly tying, hunting, gardening, camping, hiking (basically enjoying the outdoors). Of special interest, is fly fishing and the obsession of running waters, which led to my interests of conservation and restoration of rivers. I advocate the preservation of species diversity and the habitat in which they live. I and my wife, Rachel, have lived in the New River Valley since August of 2005 when I started my master’s degree in Stream Ecology at Virginia Tech. We’ve enjoyed hiking and camping around the area, especially at Grayson Highlands State Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Because of my interests in coldwater conservation, I, as well as some other conservationists, revived the New River Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. I have served as the President since March of 2006. Many folks affiliated and nonaffiliated with Tech have worked hard to protect coldwater habitat in the New River Valley. We have conducted habitat enhancement projects and stream clean-ups. Please visit the chapter’s website www.nrvtu.org to look at our conservational projects, educational programs, activities, and mission as a chapter. Please take a look at my research interests. If you have any questions feel free to contact me via email. |
