About these pages

These web pages are Pris Sears' final project for Dr. Greg Sherman's "Virtual Reality on the Web" (EDCI 5774) - a class in Virginia Tech's Instructional Technology department. The goal was to learn to create "virtual reality" objects. The class was directed to use Pandapas Pond as the starting point for creating the VR objects, and the material was required to address some of the Virginia Standards of Learning.

The raw footage was taken on location at Pandapas Pond, using a tripod and an Olympus digital camera. A laptop was on-site to download pictures to, as the camera's storage capabilities were limited to about 20 pictures. The VR Worx 1.0 software was used to create the QuickTime VR "scene" - a series of panoramas, still pictures, and virtual reality "objects."

Hints on the movie: there are three panoramas connected together. In the first one, there are two still scenes embedded and one "object" (a beaver-chewed stump that can be rotated). In the second scene, there is one still image. The third scene is just a panorama with no embedded objects.

The "armed beavers" images are from the Beavers: Wetlands & Wildlife web site. I added the armaments in with Photoshop.
