For this assignment, we gradually developed a computer generated logo for TEMLP (Technology Education Masters Licensure Program). We started this assignment developing our sketching abilities in timed activities. Sketching allows graphic designers to quickly record visual and written ideas. It is very efficient and open ended in the initial design stages verse computer - generated design. I did numerous pages of sketching to develop my ideas. We did different types of sketching, from thumbnail to rough layouts, we worked with typographical thumbnail sketches, figure/ground thumbnail sketches, and symbol design thumbnail sketches. My final logo was chosen by Dr. Sanders, our client for TEMLP. I used a software called Macromedia FreeHand to create a computer generated comprehensive layout of my logo design. I developed a 1-color version that would look good when photocopied, as well as a 2-color version. One consideration while creating the logo was that it must screen print well because we are making screen printed T-shirts from the logo. Once my design was created, I then played with typography, size, and color as shown below.
