ABOUT THE TSA CLUB Every student enrolled in Technology Education is a member of the Technology Student Association of Blacksburg Middle School. In class, we have many TSA activites that students participate in throughout the semester. Additionally, we have an afterschool TSA Club that meets the last Wednesday of every month from 2:45-4:30. Any 6th-8th grade student enrolled in, or who has taken Tech Ed, is allowed to be a member. In the spring, selected students participate in the Regional and State Conferences and Competitions.
MISSION OF TSA The Technology Student Association is a non-profit national student organization. TSA's mission is to inspire its student members to prepare for careers in a technology-driven economy and culture. TSA is the only student organization dedicated exclusively to students enrolled in technology education classes grades K-12. Relating class activities to local, regional, state and national technology related competitive events are highly motivational for students. The natural interaction between teachers and students can provide an excellent learning environment, while working toward goals. TSA offers students the following: leadership opportunities, teamwork, excellent competitions, & a sense of belonging to a group of deserving students.
WHO ARE TSA'S MEMBERS? TSA's membership includes over 200,000 middle and high school students in 2,500 schools spanning 48 states.
TSA's members:
- have an interest in technology and a desire to be a part of a team with common goals.
- have taken, or are currently taking, a class in technology.
- are students from different races and ethnic backgrounds, with different grade point averages and outlooks.
Empowering Students To Take Their Knowledge To The Next Level
The Technology Student Association (TSA) empowers students to take their knowledge and skills to the next level. By providing a set of technology competitions that incorporate the Standards of Technological Literacy, meeting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) requirements, and providing an effective leadership program, TSA forms the foundation of a strong technology education program at both the middle and high school level. TSA is recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education, many state education agencies, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the International Technology Education Association and the National Coordinating Council of Career and Technical Student Organizations.
