Philosophy of Teaching

Promoting diversity and tolerance in all students will decrease prejudice and discrimination in future generations, and create of society that shows respect for individuals of all cultures and backgrounds.

The classroom should be an open and welcome, anxiety-free place, where teachers and students can collaborate and work together to develop many opportunities for interaction, student development, and positive self-esteem.

Multiple forms of instruction and assessment will address the many diverse needs of learners.  Student-centered activities will empower, motivate, and engage students to take responsibility and control over their own learning.

Positive reinforcement and incentives, as well as having a good classroom management plan, is the best tool for motivating and influencing student behavior.
