Present level of language functioning:  2006-2007 Stanford English Language Proficiency results indicate  that this student has acquired grade level English proficiency listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.  This student's English proficiency in writing is limited.                             

 Instructional implications:  This student will receive one hour of in-class science and social studies aide  three times a week.  This student will also receive twenty minutes of pull-out services for direct reading  and writing instruction two to three times per week depending on spelling test results.  We will be working to improve comprehension in the content areas, as well as reading comprehension and fluency.            

Classroom accommodations:  This student will receive small group instruction during reading class.  She will have directions clarified for her when needed, and she will have tests read to her (except on reading tests).  Concrete, well-illustrated vocabulary will assist this student in developing strong reading and writing skills.  Graphic organizers will aide this student in comprehension and retention.  Key vocabulary should be introduced prior to the instruction of new content.  Tapping into prior knowledge will facilitate scaffolding. 

 Extent of participation in state assessments:  This student will participate in Stanford English Language Proficiency assessment.  The student will also take the grade 3 English: R/L/R and math SOL tests with accommodations. This student will be exempt from taking the science and social studies SOL tests.
