Zhong Guo Hong is a color, a unique red color for China.

It is a common mis-understanding that when people link red to China, they think it is something about politics.

Red, the very pure, saturated red, is regarded as a blessing and cheering color by Chinese people for thousands of years. Many pleasant symbols and characters are painted as red almost everywhere in Chinese traditional arts.

As an example, by simply cutting a piece of red paper, many civilian art experts are able to sketch scenes, express good wishes or even tell stories. This art is originated from daily life and passed over family generations. This art is so widely spreaded and diversified that even the exactly same symbol can be described by many different shapes. As I can recall, my grandma is such an expert, her work has a unique style, which in most cases is brief yet joyful.

It is sad that my grandma passed away long time ago when I was a kid, which only gave me the time to learn some basic techniques, but not her style. As a result, I do not quite have my personal creations. However, I am able to do a pretty decent copy-cat work. Loving this art for years, here are some of my works in the past few years and hope you can fall in love with it.
