About Me
About Si-Jung (Jun) Kim
Si-Jung Jun is with the Department of Digital Media, University of Central Florida and his current research areas include embodied user interfaces and wearable interactions. He received a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction and Human Factors from the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Virginia Tech. He also received a M.S. from the School of Information and Communications at Sungkyunkwan University and a B.S. from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Kyonggi University. In addition, he was a Ph.D. student at KAIST and ICU and an exchange student at the Far Eastern National University, Russia. He conducted various multi-disciplinary projects in the area of user interface design, interactive media, augmented reality and 3D applications for over 10 years. His current research areas include interactive user interfaces/media, augmented reality and wearable interactions including game and robotics.

Si-Jung has multi-disciplinary background in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering from his education and industrial experience.
Strong computer programming and user-centered design skills
Si-Jung has strong computer programming skills and professional knowledge in user-centered design. He has projected in various research projects in the field of wearable media, multi-modal user interface, interactive contents including game, haptic and robotics, and computer vision as a principal investigator (PI), co-PI, collaborator and graduate research assistant using C/C++, JAVA (Tuple Space), Java Script, Open GL/Inventor, VRML, Tuple Space, Cold Fusion, Micro professors RTOS and CAVE system.
Industrial product design and team management skills
One of his additional assets is industrial product design skill from his business venture, Avatar Soft Inc. Since he was awarded a medal in the start-up venture contest hosted by Korean Government in 1998 and after visiting Silicon Valley in 1999, he established Avatar Soft Inc in 1999. Through his business venture, he has learned software and hardware products design processes and usability test. Mr. Kim's company was received the certificate of Technology Development Model Company by Korea Technology Credit Guarantee Fund and his sucess story was introduced in a book.
